1. Remember that as a leader we are always responsible for how our communication is received.
2. Use a model such as DISC to understand the different styles of human behaviour and adapt your language to suit the style of the person you are talking to.
3. Check to see if your communication has been understood. Ask open-ended questions of your team member to hear if you have hit the mark.
