How to Delegate Effectively

  1. Decide on the structure or system that needs to be created so you don't have to keep reinventing the wheel. Yes, it will take time upfront by that investment will be worth it in the long run.
  2. Talk about 'what' needs to be done, not 'how' it needs to be done. When you slip into the 'how', you can fall into the trap of micro-managing your team. Empower them to do what you recruited them to do.
  3. Set clear expectations. Discuss what 'complete' looks like, when it's due, how it's due and what they need to do if they run into any challenges.
